Halocho #1984 - Erev Rosh Chodesh is Yom Kippour Kattan

Some have the custom of fasting on the eve of Rosh Chodesh (the new Jewish [lunar] month) and adding the Yom Kippur Kattan prayers (during Mincha).

יֵֹש נוֹהֲגִין לְהִתְעַנּוֹת בְּעֶרֶב רֹאשׁ חֹדֶשׁ. וְאוֹמְרִים סֵדֶר יוֹם כִּפּוּר קָטָן, לְפִי שֶׁבּוֹ מִתְכַּפְּרִין כָּל הָעֲוֹנוֹת שֶׁל כָּל הַחֹדֶשׁ, דּוּמְיָּא דִּשְׂעִיר רֹאשׁ חֹדֶשׁ. וּכְמוֹ שֶׁאָנוּ אוֹמְרִים בְּמוּסָף, זְמַן כַּפָּרָה לְכָל תּוֹלְדוֹתָם. וְכָל מָקוֹם לְפִי מִנְהָגוֹ .
