Halocho #988 - Your life or your Shabbat

Saving lives takes precedence over Shabbat. (Saving lives takes precedence over all sins besides for idolatry, adultery and murder.)

Even if the danger is not certain, one must transgress Shabbat - if needed - and take care of the potential danger.

When a potential life threatening situation arises on Shabbat, one first takes care of the danger - and later one can ask questions for future reference.

Even if a non-Jew is available, one desecrates Shabbat and does not waste time trying to get the non-Jew to avert the danger.

Even if many people desecrated Shabbat to avert a danger, and they unnecessarily duplicated each others efforts, they all get rewarded for their efforts to save a life.

Halocho #582 - Mosquitoes on Shabbat

One may not catch animals or bugs on Shabbat - hunting is one of the 39 forbidden categories of forbidden work.

One may not kill creatures on Shabbat - killing is another one of the 29 forbidden categories of forbidden work.

If an insect lands on one's body for the purpose of biting, it's permissible to remove it, taking care not to kill it.

Halocho #431 - How often can one murder the same person?

Causing a person's blood to drain from his face is considered murder.

In Hebrew, embarrassing somebody is referred to as מלבין פני חברו - whitening a fellowman's face; since the blood drains from his face when embarrassed.

Embarrassing somebody is forbidden - whether verbally or otherwise - and could make one lose ones portion in Olam Haba - the world to come.

Embarrassing somebody is forbidden both in private and obviously in public.

Halocho #206 - The first murder

According to many opinions, Cain killed Hevel today - 19 Marcheshvan; 49 days after they were born. The Medrash tells us that Cain wounded Hevel numerous times until he found a spot that was fatal. Before burial, the Chevra Kadisha (Jewish Burial Society) do a "Tahara"; they wash the body and wrap it in white shrouds. If a person bled while being killed and the blood is on their body or clothes then no Tahara is done, though the body is wrapped in shrouds. If a person was murdered by Goyim - even if there was no bleeding - no Tahara is done, so as to invoke Divine Anger.
