Halocho #882 - Talking can kill you!

According to some opinions, today (7 Elul) the 10 spies died as a punishment for talking evil about the land of Israel.

Any speech that can result in a person being harmed - emotionally, financially or otherwise - even if it's accurate - is usually forbidden.

When there's a real need for the information to be passed along - e.g. to prevent harm to others - it is often permitted to relay the information. One needs to learn the Halachot of when this applies, since sometimes it's forbidden to withhold the information, other times it's forbidden to relay the information.

Halocho #437 - Buying Sefarim

Everybody has a Mitzva to buy Sefarim to learn from.

This should include the Chumash (5 books of Moses), Mishna, Talmud and Practical-Halachic works.

If one does not understand them in the original, one must buy them with a translation, since the point is to learn them.

Halocho #212 - Not obeying ones parents

We learned yesterday that one may not contradict ones parents. However, if a parents requests one transgress a Halacha, one must not obey them. This is because both parents and children are required to obey Hashem. Source: Kitzur Shulchan Aruch 143:11 - Danny Tuesday, 27 Marcheshvan 5769

Halocho #1 - Learn some Torah every day

After daily davening Shacharis you should have an immutable fixed time to learn some Torah. Even the potential of earning a lot of money should not void this fixed time. In an emergency, at the very least you should learn one Posuk or one Halocho, and catch up on your daily quota when you free up. KSA 27:1 KSA is short for Kitzur Shulchan Aruch
