Halocho #1835 - Isru Chag; the day after Yom Tov
The day after Yom Tov is called Isru Chag.
Isru Chag is today - Thursday - in Israel, and on Friday everywhere else.
One may not fast on Isru Chag and no Tachanun is said on Isru Chag.
The Minhag is to eat a bigger meal than usual, to mark the day as Isru Chag.
Some do not say Tachanun for the entire week after Shavu'ot since the Korbanot that one had to bring when coming to the Bet Hamikdash on Yom Tov could be brought for the entire week after Shavu'ot.

Halocho #338 - The missing Parsha
In the Diaspora, Shavouth was on Friday and Shabbat. This coming week will be Parshat Naso - נשא. In Israel, Shavouth was on Friday; on Shabbat we already read Parshat Naso. This coming week we will read Parshat Beha'alotcha - בהעלותך. This divergence continues for the next 5 weeks, at which time in Israel we will read Parshat Balak - בלק, while in the Diaspora they will read the double Parsha of Chukath-Balak - חוקת-בלק. From then on we will be reading the same Parsha again for almost 3 years, until after Pessach 2012 - ה'תשע"ב when we will diverge again for 6 weeks. (Pessach will end on Friday on Israel, and on Shabbat in the Diaspora.) - Danny Monday, 9 Sivan 5769

Halocho #333 - Today is Yom Hameyuchas
Today - in they year 2449 - a few days before Matan Torah, Hashem informed us that we're a chosen nation:
וִהְיִיתֶם לִי סְגֻלָּה מִכָּל-הָעַמִּים, כִּי-לִי כָּל-הָאָרֶץ (Shmos 19:5)
As a result, today is often referred to as the Pedigree-Day; Yom-Hameyuchas.
No Tachanun is said during the first part of Sivan; until Isru-Chag Shavu'ot (or a week later - depending on local custom).
