Today - Thursday - is the first of 2 days Rosh Chodesh Tamuz. It’s a mitzvah to eat a bigger meal on Rosh Chodesh. One may do work on Rosh Chodesh, but one may not fast nor eulogize. Some women have a family custom to not do some types of work on Rosh Chodesh. Remember to add Ya'aleh Veyavo in davening (prayers) and bentching (grace after meals). Shalom Danny,
ReplyDeleteHow are we to have chodesh in light of the attack so recently?
I know emuna, bitachon...another test?
Also prayers are still needed for the two girls?
If so...please resend...I am a member of a womens tehillim/refuah group.
Thank you for using facebook as a spurce of knowledge and brightness in the world.

Hi Rachel
ReplyDeleteShavu'a Tov
There's never an easy answer to "bad happening to good people" - and it's always hard to transition from tragedy to celebration... I don't have any new insights into this.
Note however that the past 2 attacks in Jerusalem were on Erev Rosh Chodesh; a day reserved for Teshuva...
The 2 girls still need Tehillim; especially Tamar bat Naama undergoing chemotherapy.
Chaya bat Naomi Zehava could use some heavenly help too.
Thanks
- Danny
is the minhag not to do laundry a chassidish one ... where is the source for that? Thanks
ReplyDeleteThis is an old minhag mentioned in Chazal; the given reason is that women were given Rosh Chodesh as an extra Yom Tov as a reward for not worshiping the Golden Calf. They celebrate by not doing some types of work.
ReplyDeleteNot doing laundry and not sewing are two popular minhogim that pre-date Chassidus.
