Halocho #1795 - Shabbat of Teshuva - Shabbat Shuva

The Shabbat during the עֲשֶׂרֶת יְמֵי תְשׁוּבָה is called שַׁבָּת שׁוּבָה, based on the opening words of the Haftarah (from הוֹשֵׁעַ Ch. 14:2)- שׁוּבָה יִשְׂרָאֵל  - Repent, O Israel!

This week is one of the 6 weeks when one does not call up a child under Bar Mitzva to read the Maftir and Haftarah.

The other instances are: Zachor, Para, 7th day of Pessach, 1st day of Shavuoth and Chazon.

The custom is to call up an important person to Maftir this week.

Shabbat Shalom,
