Halocho #307 - Countdown!

From the second day of Pessach until Shavu'ot we count the 49 days of the Omer.

Counting is done after nightfall. Before counting a Bracha is said:

ברוך אתה... על ספירת העומר

One counts both days and weeks, as the Torah says (Vayikra 23:15-16):

וּסְפַרְתֶּם לָכֶם ... שֶׁבַע שַׁבָּתוֹת ... תִּסְפְּרוּ חֲמִשִּׁים יוֹם

"And you shall count ... 7 weeks ... you shall count 50 days."

Today is the 10th day of the Omer which is 1 week and 3 days.

  1. Believe it or not - guess what is the 307th Mitzva (based on the count of the Rambam, as listed in the Sefer Mitzvas Hashem)? Sefiras HaOmer, just like your 307th post! In the Sefer with the same type of count - Simanei HaMitzvos, the Siman given for the number 307 - Shin Zayin -is Shavuos Zayin - Seven Weeks.

As this is the MIDDLE Mitzva of the Torah of the 613 Mitzvos, just as your 307th post is dated 25 Nissan, 10th day of the Omer; the MIDDLE day of the Omer is the 25th day of the 49 days, which is on 10 Iyar.
